Meetings of the Planning and Environment Committee usually take place in the Council Chamber (upstairs in the Corn Exchange building) at 7pm.

The Planning Applications that have been received to date (23/07/25) to be discussed at the Planning & Environment Committee meeting to be held on Monday, 4 August  2025 can be viewed here. If you wish to make a comment on any of the applications please email the Clerk to the Committee, Georgina Wakely G.Wakely@dorchester-tc.gov.uk by 9am on Wednesday, 30 July 2025.

Any additional applications received between 23/07/25 and 30/07/25 will be included in the agenda for the Planning and Environment Committee which will be published on 30/07/25.

What the Planning and Environment Committee does

Delegated Powers:

The powers, duties and functions of the Council relating to:

 

Consideration of Planning Applications and the submission of observations on them to the Local Planning Authority.

 

Observations (as necessary) to the responsible Authority on matters affecting the environment, traffic management and public transport in the Town.

 

Footpaths, bridlepaths and rights of way.

 

Street Naming.

Referred Business:

To consider and report to the Council on:

 

All major development proposals affecting the environment of the Town.

 

The Local Development Plan

 

Developments which, in the opinion of the Committee, would be of benefit to the Town.
