Town Pump Enhancement Project
The Town Council is currently developing plans for enhancing the public realm in the immediate vicinity of the Town Pump at Cornhill with improved surfacing and rationalising street furniture such as litter bins, bike racks and benches. Preliminary designs will be available soon.

Supporting the high street
With the assistance of a grant from Dorset Council, the town council has been working to support existing high street retail sector and also help attract new businesses to either relocate or start-up in Dorchester.
The key aspects of this initiative are as follows:
Footfall counter - a permanent device in South Street that records pedestrian footfall and identifies the busiest periods.
Business testimonials- short-form video interviews with existing businesses including The Kings Arms (Stay Original), Cotton Traders, The Secret Garden and Kooky Bloom.
The outcomes from both these activities are available on the new business 'Dynamic Dorchester' resource pages on Discover Dorchester here.
