David Taylor
North Ward
David was first elected to the Council in 2011 and served as Mayor in 2018-19.
He serves on the Management and Planning & Environment Committees. He is also one of the Council's representatives on the Dorset Association of Town and Parish Councils.
David is also a Member of the Dorset Council for the Charminster and St Mary's Ward.
David says ...
"I was born and educated in Sherborne, then trained to be a chef in Salisbury.
I have travelled extensively and worked around the UK and in South Africa, finally returning to my roots in Dorset, where I have settled to live and work in Dorchester.
I am a keen walker and nature lover and I am also very interested in the history of the local and surrounding areas. I support and help raise funds for a number of local charities, raising £4,000 for Homestart West Dorset, Keep 106, Mind West Dorset and Dorchester Youth Club during my Mayoral year.
I believe in true democracy with freedom of speech for all. Helping those who need help and giving assistance with all local concerns or issues is one of my biggest priorities. My passion for the County Town of Dorchester is well recognised by all those who know me as well as my love for the County of Dorset in general."
