Stella Jones

East Ward

Stella was first elected to the Town Council in 1979.  She has been Mayor three times, in 1988-89, in 2000-01 and 2013-14 and was also husband Trevor's Mayoress in 1982-83, 1992-93 and 2002-03.

She is a member of the Management Committee and the Planning and Environment Committee.  

In 2016 Stella was awarded an MBE for her support for work in the community with local charities and organisations.

Stella says ...

"I was a teacher at Damers First School until I retired. 

I currently serve on both Dorchester Town Council and the new Dorset Council. I was a member of West Dorset District Council throughout its existence from 1973 - 2019 and also served on Dorset County Council in the past.   

I am a member of many local organisations, including several supporting children, including the Dorset Community Nursery School, Homestart West Dorset, Dorchester Youth Centre and the Child Contact Centre.

I am the Mother of four children and enjoy spending time with my grandchildren.  In my spare time I enjoy tennis (both playing and watching), reading, travelling and walking."
