Gareth Jones

South Ward

Gareth was first elected to the Council in 2011 and served as Mayor in 2021 -2022.

He serves on the Policy and Planning & Environment Committees.

Gareth says....

" I have lived in Dorset since 1988, working locally and raising a family. I now live in Broadmayne with my wife, Anne.

I am a retired Council Economic Development Officer, working for over 15 years supporting development of jobs, skills and business growth.

As Town Councillor since 2011, I served four year as Chairman of Policy Committee, helping shape the Council's vision of the town's future. I have been chair of Dorchester Joint Heritage committee for over 5 years, working to raise awareness of Dorchester’s rich and varied heritage

My interests include singing, playing music, motorbiking and badminton."
