Gareth Jones

Gareth was first elected to the Council in 2011 and served as Mayor in 2021 -2022.

He serves on the Policy and Planning & Environment Committees.

Gareth says....

"I have lived in Dorset for 30 years, nearly all of which have been in Dorchester. My three daughters grew up here, going to local schools, and two of them still live and work locally. I live in Broadmayne with my wife, Anne.

I have worked as a Council Economic Development Officer for over 15 years, supporting the development of jobs, skills and business growth.

I have been a Dorchester Town Councillor for eight years, four as Chairman of Policy Committee, and have helped shape the Council's vision of the town's future as a place of opportunity for all who live, work and visit here.

My interests include singing, playing music, dancing, gardening and badminton."
